about this poster

Brass compass on a hiking map poster

An old brass compass rests on an unfolded hiking map, itself laid on a rock. In the background, a wooded valley opens onto a distant mountain range. This landscape-format hiking poster invites you to set out unhurried, at the moment when you plan your route before leaving. The golden glints of the brass, the paper of the map and the greens of the landscape make up an image of quiet adventure. The title “TRUE NORTH” accompanies the scene.

An invitation to travel for a desk or an entryway

In landscape format, it fits above a desk, an entryway bench, a dresser or a sofa. Its golds and greens go well with leather, dark wood, wool, brass and khaki tones. It pairs nicely with other mountain, map or travel posters. It makes a meaningful gift for a hiker, a scout, a recent graduate choosing a path, a friend moving abroad or an orienteering enthusiast.

Your questions

What does “TRUE NORTH” mean?

“True north” refers to geographic north, and figuratively to the course you set for yourself in life. The title accompanies a brass compass resting on a hiking map, facing the mountains.

Who should you give this compass poster to?

It will appeal to a hiker or an orienteering enthusiast. Its message also makes it a meaningful gift for a graduation, a fresh start or a move abroad.

Choosing the size and the spot

Measure the space available on your wall, allowing for the frame you want to use. Then compare the sizes offered on this page and check the orientation of the artwork.

For a set of several posters, also plan the gaps between the frames. Keep your decor away from water splashes and heat sources.
